We often get asked ‘why do you use hyaluronic acid in your vitamin B and vitamin C serums?”

There are many reasons to include hyaluronic acid in skin care.  There are 3 main components to our skin.  Collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid.  Hyaluronic acid is what keeps our skin hydrated. We make it and destroy it every day in our own skin. As we age we make less hyaluronic acid and so the skin loses its hydrated appearance and suppleness. This is why we add hyaluronic acid to our serums.

In our skin care you will see hyaluronic acid labelled as ‘hyaluronic acid’ or sodium hyaluronate’. Both are the same and bring with them maximum hydration for your skin.

Hyaluronic acid is one of the best ingredients to be used in skin care. It is safe for use in all skin types. It is non-irritating and commonly used in serums for rosacea and other sensitive skin conditions.

Hyaluronic acid is a glycosaminoglycan (GAGs).  A fancy word for a sugar chain molecule that keeps the skin strong, hydrated and supple.  Hyaluronic acid is also in our synovial joints providing lubrication for our joints to slide.

Hyaluronic acid binds very strongly to water. In fact one gram of hyaluronic acid can bind to 6 litres of water.  This is why it is an excellent hydrator in skin care it binds to water and holds on to it.  This quality also makes hyaluronic acid the best ingredient to make dermal fillers out of.  Dermal fillers that are injected into the lips or the cheeks by cosmetic injectors are made from hyaluronic acid.

If you work in air conditioning or perform a lot of long haul flights a skin serum with Hyaluronic acid is essential to stay hydrated.  Your skin needs maximum hydration in these situations.  Our Reinvigorate Vitamin B Serum with Hyaluronic acid is very popular amongs flight attendants for this reason.
